The annual swim of Loch Earn took place on Saturday 8th September covering a distance of approximately 6.5 miles. This years winner, Dee Llewellyn, set a new record of 2 hours 38 minutes and 32 seconds - a remarkable achievement! Water temperature was 55F (12.8C) and the weather stayed fine.
The swim ended at the jetty operated by Highland Ventures, (pontoonboats.co.uk) and we had boats at the ready in case any assistance was needed. The boats are easily rowed and are ideal for escorting swimmers in confined areas where larger boats become difficult to manage. Their ability to float in shallow water and remarkable bouyancy and stability are a great advantage.
